BReathwork

“When you own your breath, nobody can steal your peace.” - Anonymous

Breathwork is an active form of meditation that when used in a safe and intentional setting, can elicit experiences of deep emotional release, clarity of vision, relaxation, transformation, healing of childhood trauma and spiritual awakening.

Breathwork is said to be one of the latest and greatest psychotherapeutic approaches to healing.

In their 2012 book, The Healing Power of Breath, doctors Richard P. Brown and Patricia L. Gerbarg write: “Studies are revealing that, by changing the patterns of breathing, it is possible to restore balance to the stress response systems, calm an agitated mind, relieve symptoms of anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), improve physical health and endurance, elevate performance, and enhance relationships.”

When we intentionally breathe using a specific technique called Conscious Connected Breathing, we connect each inhale to the exhale without pausing and continuously breathe which over time changes our physiology and allows us to access altered states of consciousness or "‘non-ordinary states of being”.

By focusing our awareness on the breath we come into deeper connection with our body and slowly allow the part of the mind that is always trying to analyze and figure out your life slip into the background. As we build the breath and take in more oxygen, allowing this pranic life energy to flow through us we surrender to the body and its innate wisdom and intelligence.

I believe deeply that the body has its own priority path to healing itself and if we can simply get the rational/analytical mind out of the way then we can give the body the space and presence it needs to do its thing.

Often times when we are able to do this the body bursts with spontaneous tears, laughter, movements, visions, creative ideas or memories coming back to it. We become overwhelmed with feelings of aliveness and gratitude and are able to release old baggage and weight we have been carrying(and maybe didn’t even know we were). We experience in our bodies what it truly feels like to liberate ourselves of stress and tension and we breathe our way into greater connection with our bodies and the unknown mystery of life which is somehow always here to guide us.

Breathwork for me has been a way of digging into my deep truths, and unconscious wounds and one by one seeing them through new eyes and letting them go. Breathwork has taught me the power of the body to heal itself and the deep wisdom and clarity that we can access when we stop trying to figure things out.

Breathwork is different everytime. Every journey, much like life, is always showing you exactly what you need to see in that moment. So therefore it teaches us about surrender and the magic of exploring the unknown with curiosity and awe.

Breathwork heals issues at the root level. So for people who have worked on specific problems and repeating patterns in their life over and over and can’t seem to find a way to breakthrough, this might just be the way.

Because the shifts happen on the body level while we breathe, you will leave each session feeling like a different part of you has emerged. The work happens as we surrender to the breath and after the session you get to go back to your life and discover who this new version of you is.

Breathwork is for you if….

  • You feel trapped in your body and unable to express and be all of who you are in the world

  • You deeply want to just let go of control and live your life

  • You have been curious about plant medicine journeys but want to try something else that can have a similar impact

  • You are ready to access and explore the subconscious blocks and fears holding you back from taking steps forward in your life

  • You feel like you carry the weight of the world on your shoulders

  • You feel like you forget how to relax

  • You don’t know how to slow down and just “be”

  • You feel like you have lost touch with your feelings

  • You experience daily anxiety

  • You’ve been wanting to meet more heart centered humans but didn’t know where to find them

  • You are ready to stop hiding who you really are from the work

  • You are being guided to do some deeper work on yourself and need a tool/guide to help you

  • You are a conscious leader who wants to and is ready to crack open to another level of your depth, your joy, your potential and your brilliance, this work is for you.

1:1 BREATHWORK vs GROUP BREATHWORK

In a one-one breathwork session we deep dive into exploring an intention you have usually in one area of your life. We take extra time to converse and discuss how you are feeling and what is calling you to explore this specific intention before we begin.

All one-one work is done either in the privacy of my relaxing studio space where you lay on a supportive mat close to the floor (including my heated biomat of amethyst crystals for extra healing) propped up with cozy pillows and soft blankets along with an eye pillow to set you up for the ultimate journey, OR done virtually through ZOOM in the comfort of your own home.

The breathwork journey itself takes about 50 minutes. We begin with a guided grounding meditation to get you present before beginning and I then guide you through the breathwork journey using music, my voice, and bodywork to support and encourage you to move through anything that comes up along the way.

After your session you are given time to journal/discuss and integrate your experience with me.

The full experience is 90 minutes.

I typically recommend this experience to those who:

  • Wish to have privacy during their session

  • Think they would be distracted by others in a group setting

  • Have something they want to explore deeper with more personal guidance

  • May have injuries or body needs where laying on a yoga mat on the floor for an hour may be difficult or uncomfortable

  • Are currently working through trauma or deep fear/anxiety and know they would feel safer in a setting with close monitoring and support

  • Those ready and excited to do deep work on themselves

In a group breathwork session we come together in community to connect, move, meditate, breathe, write share and heal together. The group setting creates a beautiful opportunity for you to be held and know you are not alone on your path of discovering more of who you are.

There is something about breathing together in a group that creates a really powerful energy wherein everyone collectively expands further then they might go on their own.

Although you have your own eye mask on and are in your own personal space just being able to hear and be impacted by the sounds and journeys of those around you is a really beautiful gift. Sometimes people go into it fearing they will be distracted by the people around them and end up being deeply impacted by them and their experience instead.

The group experience is a great way to connect in community, to bring your friends and family with you and to have a touching and impactful few hours which will open your heart and leave you feeling full.

I typically recommend this experience to those who:

  • Want to try a new type of experience which is very internal and personally focused but while in a group setting

  • Love loud music and group energy

  • Are new to breathwork and want to see what its like

  • Are looking for the most financially accessible option

  • Are seeking to practice vulnerability and self expression in a group setting

  • Are looking for conscious/heart centered community to connect with
